All code is guilty until proven innocent

April 4, 2019

Dream-it

Recently progress has picked up pace as we press on with the coding of the first module of GluIQ.  The first module ‘Dream It’ is designed to identify business needs, outcomes and triggers. This module will help understand political, economic, social, legal and environmental needs of the project.

This is achieved through the creation of 4 documents:

1. A project mandate – initiating the project;

2. A statement of need – identifying the requirements;

3. A strategic brief – focusing on business needs; and

4. An outline business case – through which project viability can be assessed.

A Digital Golden Thread

One key feature of GluIQ is that at the end of each stage, files uploaded and created can be archived to provide a digital (paper) trail, akin to one of Dame Judith Hackitt’s recommended ‘Digital Golden thread’ (Hackitt Report, May 2018 – Building a Safer Future) later in the project.  This trail can also be shared to avoid misconceptions later in the construction process.

Currently in the development process, when utilising the first module a user can create projects providing key information. They can also create the above documents with the guidance of GluIQ and explore the whole “Dream-it to Use-it” framework, along with how it guides construction process.

This module will soon be moving on to the testing phase so that we can ensure GluIQ is the best quality possible. For this we carry out unit tests, that programmatically ensure the individual components with the software perform as designed and proving the code is free of issues and therefore ‘innocent’.
