Quality is not an act, it’s a habit

May 20, 2019

The first module ‘Dream-It’ is now fully complete. This initial module supports the user when identifying business needs, outcomes and triggers for their project. This initial module also helps the user understand the political, economic, social, legal and environmental needs of the project.  Since our last blog post, we have finalised the creation of the ‘Dream-it’ document creation screens and fully tested the system.

Testing takes two forms, unit testing and test cases. Unit tests are a way of programmatically creating repeatable automatic tests. This is a very time-consuming process to set up, but can be run quickly every time new code is added ensuring nothing fails. Test cases on the other hand, are a method of manually acting out reproducible tests. These tests are conducted by a person and are very quick to create, but since it’s a manual endeavour take a long time to complete.

Next Stage

Our next stage is to start the creation of module 2 “Test-It’. During this stage another 4 documents will be created:

– project brief

– option appraisals

– feasibility studies

– an extended outline business case.

These documents will encourage the user to refine their dream, evaluating each solution available and progressing to the “Define-it” stage.

These initial project stages equip the user with an informed, prioritised and rigorous methodology to forming and challenging their original thinking.  The value derived from considering and clarifying their own requirements will be amplified in subsequent project stages, as external consultants and advisers start to enter the process.  With clarity of purpose and outcome, the project can be progressed more effectively, building off the critical foundations that are being laid through these initial stages.  The Schwerpunkt of the project (the What and the Why) is being established.
